The author tried to be too clever, trying to put an origin to the Dark Passenger, and totally messing it up. I will probably end up watching the series.. thing is, with no Showtime, we'll do it via Netflix, and we've got over 200 titles on our queue there, LoL! It *is* an excellent show, but it's a tough watch for me, because it's so disturbing. Here you've got a serial killer, who really is terrifyingly dangerous and without a lot of normal emotions/empathy, and yet we end up sympathizing with him and even cheering him on in some fashion. Which is a brilliant concept for a show, but still gives me the heebie jeebies...heh. I watched Dexter a few times when they were showing it on network TV. And once my friends who've read the books starting dissing the 3rd book in the series as doing a disservice to the series, I moved it way down on my list of books to read.
